Since last fall the City, through a contract with the Appalachian Regional Council of Governments and with assistance of County Planning Department staff, has been working to update the Comprehensive Plan. It consists of eight elements related to the overall future goals for the development of the City.

Public input is very important to having a strong and viable Comprehensive Plan.  The draft plan is attached for your review.

On Thursday April 27th, the Planning Commission, the appointed board responsible for its development, is holding a final workshop to review the draft plan. Afterward on June 1st the Planning Commission plans to hold a public hearing on the draft Plan before possibly recommending it to City Council for its adoption.

The April 27th Planning Commission meeting will be held at 6 PM in the City Hall Conference Room. The public hearing on June 1st will be held at the Fire Department Training Room at 216 Emergency Lane in Westminster. The public is cordially invited to attend either meeting and certainly is encouraged to be present for the June 1st public hearing.
