Our City

Together We Grow

Westminster is located in rural Oconee County, SC at the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our city is best known as home to the South Carolina Apple Festival, commemorating Oconee County’s legacy as one of the strongest apple-producing regions in the country. Today, the Westminster area is home to miles of farmland and dozens of small and large farms.

More Than A Railroad Stop

Maintaining Our History in Westminster

The City of Westminster was founded in 1876 as a railroad stop. Our historic Railroad Depot was restored after a fire in 2007 to be the center of downtown life and a big part of what makes Westminster so unique.

We are proud to have over 100 original homes that maintain their late 1800s, turn-of-the-century architecture.

The General Store Museum of Westminster contains the contents of England’s General Merchandise Store that was originally purchased by the Westminster Area Historical Preservation Society. All of it was later donated to the Oconee Heritage Museum.
